According to Hollister Fire Department there is a prescribed burn taking place at an orchard on Flynn Road. Several Hollister residents called BenitoLink asking what was the cause of the large amount of smoke settling in the city.
Fire Chief Jonathan Gouldling told BenitoLink that agricultural burn season opened Nov. 4 and that this a permitted burn.
AirNow. gov marked air quailty in the city as moderate as of 1:25 p.m.
