Our hospital here in Hollister [Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital], could be sold to a Michigan based company. But they can’t be anymore corrupt and money hungry than it is now. They billed my insurance company $14K for an MRI several years ago.
They tried to file bankruptcy but were denied because they tried to use expenses that they hadn’t incurred yet. But they just gave their CEO $100K per year raise to $450K for a 25 bed hospital. They didn’t pay their payroll taxes for a year. Overbilled medicare by millions of dollars and had to pay it back.
I haven’t been able to use my hospital or any of its services for two years now because they don’t accept our health insurance. AETNA. Therefore 99% of the doctors that are here also do not accept our health insurance. And if they do, they are not accepting new patients. I haven’t been to an OB Gyn in 2 years.
We have to go almost 100 miles round trip to see a doctor. The closest ER is 25 miles away. They say we would need approximately 25 additional doctors to serve our community. But if the hospital refuses to even bill our insurance, we would have to pay cash before treatment or we are turned away. Hospitals should be required to accept all Healthcare insurance. We’re so sick of it, we’re leaving California as soon as my husband retires and may retire early just to leave.
Regards,
Dawn Eason
Ps. I also feel that if it comes to a lease-to-own contract, something is going to happen and it’s going to become a legal issue and we the people will be the ones that will end up on the short end of the stick.
