Hollister Municipal Airport director Jeff Crechriou confirmed that an antique biplane flipped on the runway July 18. The pilot and passenger were not injured.

Crechriou said around 10:15 a.m. the plane, which he described as circa pre-1960s era, flipped over after it made a routine landing and turned onto the taxiway, which connects runways to the aprons and hangers that are typically where planes are parked.

He said the plane was not going fast and that the pilot “did not have a sense of a specific reason for it [flipping].”

Crechriou said the runway was closed for about three hours until the plane was removed. He added the plane sustained only minor damage.
