We are happy to announce that we will be offering both an S130 Field Day for folks who want to become Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2) qualified, as well as an RT130 (Refresher Training) for folks to keep up their qualifications. Details on each are below. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions in the meantime!

RT130 (& BBQ!):

This training will consist of a discussion of the readings and videos found on TNC’s Fire Management site here. Please come to the day having read through the links on that page, as well as having watched the main webinar.

We will be having a discussion that touches on those same topics, as well as takeaways from our own burns and operations here on the central coast. You must also do a pack test before this day, witnessed by someone else who can confirm your successful completion. Please bring documentation to this effect (see bottom of attached PDF). Afterwards, we will conduct shelter deployments, get everyone their certs, and then transition into a BBQ for the afternoon where folks are welcome to come and go as they please.

When: Saturday, August 3

Where: TBD, but likely a local beach in the Santa Cruz/Aptos area. We will follow up soon with the location.

Please sign up here so we can know how many people to expect.

S130 Field Day

This training will be focusing on basic firefighting and fire lighting operations, including ignition and holding techniques, basic pump operation and hoselays, tool use, fireline hazards. and more. If you are seeking to become Firefighter Type Two qualified, you must also complete online coursework in conjunction with the field day. Instructions on how to access each of the required online courses is included in the attached PDF. There is also a pack test form included here that folks seeking their FFT2 qualification or their RT130 can use to document their test.
