A Hollister resident was shot Jan. 25 after confronting three men who allegedly broke into his vehicle in the 400 block of Meridian Street.

Hollister Police said in a news release the shooting was reported around 1:40 a.m. and police officers found the victim with multiple gunshots.

“The victim received on-site treatment from Hollister fire and AMR Personnel and was then taken to a nearby trauma center,” the release says.

Police said the suspects were described as Hispanic males in their late teens or early twenties, around 5 feet, 10 inches tall and wearing dark clothing.

According to the news release, the victim confronted the suspects and followed them demanding they return the items taken from the vehicle.

“This led to a physical altercation between the victim and the unknown suspect(s), during which the victim was shot,” the release says.

As of Jan. 25, the suspects remained at large. Hollister Police did not immediately respond to a call for an update.

“The Hollister Police Department would like the help of our community to locate the dangerous individuals involved in this incident,” the news release says. “Although it may appear only one of the suspects shot the victim, all three suspects can be charged with conspiracy as well as the crimes involved with the attack and the shooting.”
