The Scouts of Troop 436, Troop 2436, Troop 428, and Troop 2428 will once again be offering their beloved Christmas Tree Recycling service this January. For over 35 years, the event has served as a way for local residents to dispose of their holiday trees while supporting the community’s youth.
On January 4, 5, and 11, 2025, Scouts will be driving through neighborhoods in Hollister and San Juan Bautista to collect trees, which will be properly recycled in partnership with Recology. To participate, residents simply need to have their tree out at the curb by 9:00 a.m. on one of the scheduled dates.
Scouts will make every effort to pick up all trees from curbsides, but residents with special
circumstances—such as locked gates or specific scheduling requests—can call ahead to 831-636-6420 to ensure their tree is included.
This annual service is a fundraiser for the local Scouts. The recommended donation is $15 per tree. Donations can be left under residents’ door mats, or the Scouts will leave an envelope for easy return by mail.
Additionally, donations can be made via Venmo for added convenience.
“We are proud to continue this tradition of community service and environmental stewardship,” said Josh Redmond, Scout Leader of Troop 2436 “It’s a win-win for everyone: residents can get rid of their trees responsibly, and our Scouts benefit from the generosity of the community to fund their programs.”
