Cat Crew California is a group of volunteers who saw an issue that needed a solution – animals in our community were suffering. We came together to save the kittens and cats with little hope and grew very quickly while struggling to find resources during the 2020 pandemic. We have built relationships with other rescues, vets, and other like-minded members of our community. We have pleaded for help to save when we had to and put many miles on our cars transporting to appointments wherever we could get them. It became clear that the real need is the most basic: low cost spay/neuter and vaccines.
Through generous donations and hard work from our fundraising team, Cat Crew started funding low-cost SNIP buses in May of 2024. Seeing the impact this was having, we continued bringing a bus to Hollister monthly. This is a huge expense and when we learned about the work of The Community Foundation for San Benito County and their grant program, we were hopeful we could get some support to fund more clinics. We jumped for joy when we received a grant!
Their generosity has helped fund four SNIP buses – three for pets and one for ferals. These clinics provide spay/neuter, vaccines including rabies, and microchips at low cost for the community in need. In the long run, it also prevents suffering and endless reproduction. We have fixed 147 animals from this grant alone. This brings our total of fixed community cats and dogs this year on SNIP to 311!
It is through donations and grants that we hope to continue to provide this much needed service to the deserving animals of San Benito County!
