To say that Kollin Kosmicki merely dislikes county staff would be an understatement; he holds them in contempt, lacking trust and respect for them. This disdain has been evident in several public slips of the tongue over the past six months. During this time, he has publicly stated that staff cannot be trusted and has opposed staff increases. Behind closed doors, his behavior is even more disrespectful, often resorting to yelling at county staff.

Initially directed primarily at county staff, Kosmicki’s animosity has recently extended to other elected officials. He has openly displayed his displeasure towards the sheriff and the auditor, both of whom hold duly elected countywide offices.

Regarding the sheriff, Kosmicki has criticized requests for additional deputy sheriffs and positions, even amidst concerns such as jail breaks. This sentiment has found agreement with Dom Zanger, who has been observed on camera laughing during Sheriff Eric Taylor’s presentations to the board.

Similarly, Kosmicki has targeted the auditor, collaborating with Angela Curro in an effort to remove the position for what appear to be political motives. He has questioned the auditor’s trustworthiness for being an elected official, a case of “the pot calling the kettle black.”

Kosmicki seems to forget that both the sheriff and the auditor were elected by the people of this county. Despite this democratic mandate, he is advocating for the elimination of an elected position, seemingly driven by personal vendettas. One might wonder if the sheriff’s position could be next, given Kosmicki’s track record of eliminating the County Administrator Officer and County Counsel.
