A major technology-based incident has affected many systems worldwide, including some San Benito County computers and servers. Falcon’s software platform CrowdStrike performed a code update on Thursday, July 18, 2024, which caused Windows workstations and other servers to crash. CrowdStrike has implemented a fix, but actions are required to recover the affected systems. While intended to enhance our security against hackers, this update unfortunately introduced a flaw affecting some of our systems.
Please rest assured that this is not a cyberattack and the security of our systems are not compromised by this flaw. Also, not every computer in our network was affected by this update and the San Benito County IT department is working diligently to restore those affected systems quickly.
